Fixing the AR Stealth Wing Flex & Cooling Issue [WORKBENCH RAMBLE]

By RagTheNutsOff, 10 Aug 2017 into AR Wing in Fixed Wing Watch on YouTube »

Howdy, the AR Stealth wing I bought here https://goo.gl/MjbZLS (basically the same as the RMRC Recruit) has cooling and wing flex issues. This is me fixing mine with a "scooby scoop" and lashings of carbon strip. more details below, Press SHOW MORE to see them, Matt

IMPORTANT
================
Before we go any further, I feel it's important to stress that this model was bought out of my OWN money, for my own abuses.

This was NOT a "Freebie for Review".

There are two versions of this model available here https://goo.gl/MjbZLS one as a kit and one as a PNP kit. I've gone for the KIT version as it's cheaper and I have selected my own parts to go in this one.

RMRC Recruit V's Sonicmodell AR Stealth Wing
================
It's the same model. Different stickers and the RMRC Recruit has the same stabilizer we've seen in the other models, such as the ZOHD Orbit wing & the ZOHD nano Talon.

Note: ZOHD is the same company as Sonicmodell.

3D Printed Parts
================
These are the parts I used:

This is the smaller scoop https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1874758 and I can't find the larger one on thingiverse at the moment :/

Sonicmodell AR Wing Issues
================
These are the issues/things you need to know about, in no order of importance:

1. Center of Gravity
----
You will most likely need to add lead to hit CG and the CG mark is perfect in the middle of the nodule under the wings

2. Weak Wing Tips
----
Frankly these utter rubbish and need to be glued on. Mine won't last another 2 flights.

3. Diabolical Cooling
----
Get the knife out and cut some holes in it. The tiny naca duct that they have on the lid is grossly undersized and provided no cooling AT ALL.

4. Price
----
Frankly speaking the AR wing is not twice the model for the money, definitely consider the S800 here https://goo.gl/jGmnL4 instead.

5. Push Rods
----
They're rubbish, period.

6. Wing Flex
----
The wings need carbon strips adding to them. They are flexing under heavy load.

7. Wing Joiners
----
Nice idea, but one smack with a tree, they'll break. make sure you use either glue or tape to ensure that they stay on the model.

8. Elevon Trim
----
With a craft knife trim the inner edge of the elevon as it catches the side of the wing.

9. Elevon Hinges
---
These are a joke, you'll need to lam or tape these.

10. Very , Very low Rates
----
You won't need more than 1/4" of elevon movement for this wing.

11. Paint the Wing!
----
I know it's supposed to be a stealth wing, however a black model in the sky is reallllllly hard to see!

And finally the manual was a joke.

Hows that for a review! I hope you have learned everything you need to know about this model! Matt
