Eurofighter Extreme Maneuvers Compilation w/ Guardian 2D/3D - HD 50fps

By RC4ever, 30 Nov 2018 into Freewing Typhoon in Fixed Wing Watch on YouTube »

This is a music video compilation of some of the last flights with the Freewing Eurofighter performing extreme post-stall maneuvers in order to celebrate the aircraft reaching 200 flights. Scenes from the video were taken from flights 198th to 203rd where I was testing the capabilities of the EagleTree Guardian 2D/3D gyro.

I was using the gyro exclusively in 3D mode, direct rate, with and without heading hold mode, but I had it on a switch and turned it on just to perform the maneuvers as I prefered the traditional feel that I am already accustomed to of the jet during the turns with the gyro off. Take-offs and landings were performed with gyro off as well.

I was positively surprised considering I was running hovering tests with a jet that has less than 1:1 T/W in a very windy day and still got decent results. Mind that I was tweaking with the gyro settings along the flights, starting with medium gain on the first flight and increasing it little by little until it reached maximum on the last one. Mind as well that although I am using digital metal gear servos they are quite slow so the stabilizing performance could dramatically improve with faster servos.

The Freewing Eurofighter is one of the most unique foam EDF jets available in the market, featuring all-moving canards and 360º thrust vectoring nozzles, which make this plane an actual aerobatic beast and allowing for advanced post-stall maneuvers like high alpha, hovering, flip turns, cobra and flat spins to mention just a few. The jet is now sold in an upgraded V2 version but this one is still an older V1 airframe.

Bright LED navigation lights and HUD teaser enhance the realism, especially at flights on cloudy days or at dawn/dusk.

It also features an electronic retractable landing gear with all metal shock-absorbing struts and metal trunnions.

The plane is powered by Revolectrix 8S 3300-3700mAh Li-Pos.
