Flying my pitcheron converted Lidl XL glider at Fall Bay near Worm's Head on the Gower Peninsula February 20th 2019. Fall bay is usually a quiet secluded bay. There is no road access, but it's quite an easy walk along the coast path or across the fields from the National Trust car park at Rhossili.
The bay is a bowl and lift is good in a southerly wind, but there is no landing area to speak of. I'm launching from a grassy platform only about 10m in diameter. You could land in the fields behind, but you're unsighted by the hedge. You could also land out on the beach if the tide was out. If you're flying a small wing you can just ditch into the undergrowth.
The wind was, I'd guess, up to about 10-20mph at the top of the slope. I was flying with about 140g of ballast. There was loads of lift, as you can see.
For those of you who don' t know, this glider is sold occasionally in Lidl grocery stores in the UK and around Europe as a children's toy, but can be easily converted to RC. I used a pitcheron conversion based on this one by SpeedsterDEN (thanks Søren):
This requires only two servos to be added, and allows the whole of each wing to be tilted independently. It seems odd, but works very well.
